Where Have You Been?

I have had three inquiries in as many days asking me when I’m going to post something.

One of those inquiries came from Randy. Remember him? I had lunch with him today.

I don’t often have lunch with Randy, as he insists on talking with his mouth full. Meaningful dialogue is a two-way street, but my street tends to be lined with potholes as I watch bits of hamburger drop from Randy’s mouth onto the table. I could almost handle the sight of food falling from his lips as he blathers on about insignificant bits of Star Trek trivia, but rarely is this the only offensive behavior I have to sit through.

For example, at the point of what should have been the conclusion to the meal, Randy gathered up the half-chewed scraps from the table, squished them with his fingers into one tidy little ball, and popped it into his mouth. As I watched in horror at the third world table manners, he proclaimed, “Hey, there are starving kids in Irvine California. No point in being wasteful.”

I would mention the other two inquiries, but I didn’t have lunch with them today.

Okay, what else?

On a good note, we have finally moved into the new Stampfl estate!! Mrs. CSI and I are still unpacking boxes, some of which have been in storage for over a year. (You’ll remember that we were residing in an apartment for some time.) Opening each box is like a Christmas present, except that each box contains a White Elephant gift.

We have given away what seems like truck loads of stuff to Goodwill, all the while wondering why we paid so much money to store the junk for so long.

I have decided to go Zen people. I’m giving everything away. A beer, my laptop, and the Dave Mathews Band playing in the background will suit me just fine.

So what’s next? Roadtrip! I will keep you posted. Hope you’re all well.

Yay!

First, the description of Randy's repast is truly repulsivillous (see, it was so gross that no mere dictionary word would do).

Second, the storage conundrum. Sarge and I are even as we speak paying to store all manner of...we know not what.

Third, road trip? really? We're leaving on our own road trip on Sunday morning. Where are you going? Can't wait to hear.

Hi there!

After lunch with Randy, I wonder you can eat at all. I certainly don't feel hungry any longer.

Hopefully, you will find at least some treasures in those boxes?

I highly approve your choice of items to retain, however.

Jeasus Christ. It's about time.

Some observations:

1. Randy's always been rather a slob. What's new?

2. Possessions. You just get sick of them after awhile, don't you?

3. A new house. Good for you. The three of you deserve it. I hope the kitty is still with you too. We lost our kitty Newman in January. I remember your post a few months prior about yours, but your blog wouldn't let me post my comment. It hurts like hell and I don't know honey, it doesn't seem to get easier. At least not in 6 months.

4. Just so you know, like you meeting IV, I met our darling friend from Texas in the past week. She stayed almost three days and it was beyond wonderful. I think we were all so lucky to meet many years ago. It was a gift. I'm looking at Kylie's photo as I type this and I'm laughing because we all met on 1 Pic. And we're all still here. Brian, I really think it's amazing we're all still here. I don't hear from Robyn often and don't impose because I know she has a lot going on, but I know she's healthy and doing well. I hope you've stayed in touch because she loves you so.

5. I'm not looking at Leah because I've paged down a bit. I would never have met Leah without you and your blog. She was way, way too smart for me, but somehow we became the dearest friends. I am so grateful for your blog and for the friendship I have with Leah and her family. Thank you. I just started laughing looking at both Kylie's and Leah's photos. They're two kick ass, smart ladies. I'm just their side kick. That's even funnier! Oh Brian, I'm laughing and I know you know.

Before I leave I have one more thing to say. Thank you. Thank you for letting us all take over your blog and open a cafe. It's without a doubt one of my foundest memeories and I know near and dear to all who participated. We had the time of our lives. Thank you for just letting us be.

I love you darling. Welcome to your new home. Hope we hear from you more often.
